Life is full of twists and turns. Our lives have taken a dramatic turn since March 2020 with the outbreak of the COVID pandemic. Imposed minimalism and lifestyle changes left people grounded and transformed them from being acquisitive to generous. We continue to exist in a transfigured world which is waging a battle against one health monster in unison, uniting us as one family. We are grateful to all who are directly working on containing the Corona Virus and are proactively doing what we can to help in this situation, much in alignment with the values of the organisation.

Aravind left no stone unturned to continue providing patient-centred care during the pandemic, though the process was extremely demanding.  As always, the priority was towards ensuring the safety of both patients and staff. The period also witnessed a spurt of cost-effective, frugal innovations across the Aravind centres, to make eye care delivery safer, efficient and effective. Aravind utilised the downtime caused by the lockdown to frame and share revised guidelines and protocols in ophthalmic care delivery in the context of the pandemic. Sharing is a form of caring. These revised standards were shared with smaller eye hospitals in the country so as to benefit the community at large.
